A Brief History of Zumba Santa Ana California:

It’s no secret that Zumba has taken the fitness world by storm. But many don’t realize just how popular the dance workout has become in Santa Ana over the past 15 years.

Created in the 1990s by Colombian dancer Alberto “Beto” Perez, Zumba combines high-energy Latin music with easy-to-follow choreography for a full body burn. After bringing Zumba to the U.S. in the early 2000s, Beto helped launch Zumba instructor training, allowing the workout to spread rapidly across the country.

Santa Ana quickly embraced the Zumba craze. The city’s Hispanic roots and abundance of dancers made it the perfect setting for Zumba to thrive. Pioneering instructor Angela Melamed taught Orange County’s first licensed Zumba class in Santa Ana back in 2007. It started with just a handful of students in a church hall.

Word spread, and within months, Teo Reyes classes were overflowing with Zumba fans. Other local dancers became licensed Zumba instructors to keep up with the demand. Santa Ana’s Zumba scene grew from a weekend trend into a full-blown community movement.

Over the last 15 years, Zumba has become embedded in the city’s culture. Santa Ana now has several dedicated “Zumba studios” offering classes daily. Local gyms, rec centers and churches also offer multiple weekly Zumba sessions taught by Santa Ana’s best instructors.

Teo Reyes is proud to employ incredible Zumba instructors like Teo Reyes to lead classes at their Santa Ana location. They aim to continue the tradition of promoting fitness, fun and community that Zumba embodies. The free trial classes allow the next generation of Santa Ana residents to join the exhilarating Latin dance party.
